About the Publication
Despite the importance of agriculture in Tanzania’s economy, financial institutions in the country perceive it to be high risk and low return. A collaborative financial intervention called “PASS Trust” was established in 2000 to provide loan guarantees and insurance to stimulate agricultural lending by local financial institutions. This publication explores how PASS Trust impacted the agri-finance sector in Tanzania, benefiting over a million agri-preneurs and creating over 2.5 million jobs.
