The world faced a new war and rapid inflation in 2022, exacerbating the challenges that enterprises in the midstream of agricultural value chains already faced in accessing finance. Through the Smallholder and Agri-SME Finance and Investment Network (SAFIN), agricultural SMEs, their financiers and institutions that support their growth collaborated in 2022 to generate new knowledge, influence policies and co-design new investments to bridge the multi-billion dollar financing gap in the sector.
